CONSERVATION STATUS:
- Endangered.
CULTIVATION:
- Prefers regular water with good drainage.
- Full sun to semi shade.
- Frost tolerant.
PROPAGATION:
- Mainly from seed.
- Seldom produces suckers.
NATURAL HABITAT:
- Eastern Cape Province from Humansdorp to the Willowvale and Kentani areas in the Transkei.
- Grows in open grassland.
STEM:
- Erect but subterranean and can attain a length of 30-40 cm with a diameter of 20 cm - 30 cm.
- Stem crown is covered with soft woolly cataphylls.
