CONSERVATION STATUS:
- Endangered.
CULTIVATION:
- Does well with regular watering, but must have good drainage.
- Full sun.
- Frost tolerant.
PROPAGATION:
- Propagate from suckers and seed but is slow growing.
NATURAL HABITAT:
- Eastern Cape Province in the Winterberg mountain range in the Bedford and Cradock districts in open grassland.
STEM:
- Erect stem is partially subterranean and often produces multiple suckers that eventually form clumps of smaller plants around the main stem.
- Stem can attain lengths of up to 1.5 m above ground and a diameter of 20 cm – 30 cm.
CONES:

Cones are yellow with a dense yellowish woolly outer layer.
