CONSERVATION STATUS:
- Critically endangered.
CULTIVATION:
- Full sun.
- Does well with regular watering but can sustain drought.
- Moderately frost tolerant.
PROPAGATION:
- Readily propagated from suckers and seed.
NATURAL HABITAT:
- Northern part of the Limpopo Province. These plants grow on quartzite cliffs in full sun.
STEM:
- Stem is aerial and erect but long stems often become reclining.
- Stems can reach a length of 4 meters with a diameter of 30 cm – 40 cm.
- Apex is covered by golden brown woolly layer.
LEAVES:
- Bluish green on the upper side and somewhat paler on the lower side.
- Leaves are covered with silvery hair that are gradually lost with aging.
- Leaflets shield one another.
- New leaves can have a silvery look depending on the amount of hair on the leaves.
- Leaves are rigid and straight, slightly recurving at the apices.
