CONSERVATION STATUS:
- Critically endangered.
CULTIVATION:
- Semi shade to full sun.
- Can sustain drought but does well with regular watering and good drainage.
- Frost tolerant.
PROPAGATION:
- Readily propagated from seed and suckers.
NATURAL HABITAT:
- Mpumalanga Province in the Lydenburg district in the Steelpoort- and Olifants River valleys. Grows on steep mountain slopes on dolomite cliffs.
STEM:
- Aerial and erect stem, but long stems tend to become decumbent.
- Stem can attain a length of 6 meters with a diameter of 15 cm - 40 cm.
- The stem of E. inopinus has a tawny beige colour with a mixture of small and large leaf bases, giving it a distinct appearance.
