CONSERVATION STATUS:
  • Extinct in nature

CULTIVATION:

  • Full sun.
  • Can sustain drought but does well with regular watering and good drainage.
  • Tolerate light frost

PROPAGATION:

  • Mainly from seed. (Only one female plant in private collection) Seldom produces suckers.
NATURAL HABITAT
  • Northern Province

STEM:

  • Erect stems with a length of up to 3 meters and a diameter of 30 – 40 cm.

LEAVES:

  • Leaves are dark green with a yellowish rachis, rigid with a length of 0.8 m – 1.2 m.
  • Leaflets shield one another. Young leaves have a whitish felt-like hairy layer, but later become hairless.  Leaflets are 60 mm – 80 mm long, 10 mm – 12 mm wide and have an entire margin.  Leaflets are sickle shaped with a revolute margin.
